Commerce Ledges is a popular whitewater play spot in Iowa.  It is located in West Des Moines.  There is parking just west of Walnut Woods State Park.  From the parking spot there is a trail about 20 yards that leads to the put-in.  From the put-in spot there are some rapids that are surfable and do some minor tricks and up river there is a large boulder.  The boulder creates a nice eddy to practice with.  At certain heights there is also a decent wave near this boulder, as well.  Commerce Ledges is the closest best whitewater spot to the Des Moines metro area.
